1. Check and Clean Appliances
Any appliances that came with the house will need to be thoroughly cleaned before use. This includes, but is not limited to the refrigerator, washer and dryer, and oven. Be sure to wipe them down, inside and out. Check any coils, filters, vents, and lint traps and clean them as well. If these pieces are dusty or moldy the appliance will require more energy to work effectively and will be likely to stop working sooner than expected. 2. Work From Top to Bottom

6. Clean the Kitchen

You may be surprised to learn that the shelves, drawers, and dividers in the fridge and freezer are removable. Take them out, clean them well, and dry them completely before putting them back where they belong. 7. Replace Filters and Clean Air Vents
The air filters and vents throughout your house have the important job of cleaning the air you breathe. When new house cleaning, make sure that these filters are new and the air vents are clean. You can clean the vents with a damp rag, but if they have gotten moldy you may need to use a stronger cleaning agent.
8. Inspect Crawl Spaces, Gutters, and Storage Units

Over the last 2 months that you are at your old address, take note of the mail that you receive and notify the sender of your address change. Be sure to include utility companies, credit card companies, insurance agencies, doctors offices, and friends and family.
Pack Strategically
Clearly designate every box in a way that tells the movers which room it should go in at your new house. Designate which items can be stored and opened as you have time and what boxes you need right away. Think through what you will need that first night and morning in your new home so that you aren’t scrambling to find toothbrushes after a long day of moving.
Make the First Days Easy
